The first athlete that New Balance ever gave a signature sneaker to was Los Angeles Lakers forward James Worthy (Matt Bonner, waddup?). Big Game James' P740 released in 1985 and it was in New Balance high-tops that Worthy captured three NBA titles. The partnership was going smoothly until 1990 when Worthy was caught soliciting a prostitute, which led to New Balance dropping its first endorsee.

Almost 25 years later and it looks like everything's all good between the two parties. According to Packer Shoes, New Balance will be retroing the P740 and recently provided a teaser of the sneaker's tongue on Instagram. No word yet on an official drop date, but we're sure O.G. 'heads and Lakers fans are rejoicing.
