This past April, ASICS re-released the Gel Spotlyte basketball sneaker that was worn by Detroit Pistons point guard Isiah Thomas. In continuing with the retro trend and partnership with the NBA Hall of Famer, ASICS is taking the line even further for fall/winter with an "Isiah Thomas" pack.

The three-sneaker collection is a tribute to Thomas and features Gel Spotlytes outfitted in color schemes that represent some defining momentsin his career.

The burgundy colorway is a nod to Thomas' collegiate days as a Hoosier in Indiana and the dark blue is an obvious tribute to his NBA career with the Pistons.

The third pair with the patriotic color scheme is a bit of a head scratcher, but is said to be a reference to the Olympics, in which Thomas never had an opportunity to be a part of. In 1980, he made the squad, but never had a chance to play, like all the other American athletes that summer, because of the Olympics boycott. In 1992, he was famously snubbed from the Dream Team—supposedly at the request of Michael Jordan and other stars.

No word yet on an exact release date during the fall/winter season, but expect additional details in the coming months.
