Nike has always stayed ahead of the curve and continuously pushes the envelope when it comes to innovation. From the technology incorporated into its sneakers like Air Max and Flyknit to software and hardware offerings with Nike+ and Fuel Band, you can always count on the Swoosh to be at the forefront of the latest and greatest innovations. It's even experimented with 3D printing technology and created the first-ever football cleat that's equipped with a 3D-printed plate.
While Nike and many other companies are still scratching the surface of 3D printing, Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone sent out a tweet with a bold prediction about Nike's future and the impact this new printing technology has on the footwear company. Stone believes that Nike could turn into a software company in 10 years and allow consumers to simply 3D print their own sneakers.
Nike already allows its customers to design their own sneakers through its NIKEiD program and considering the Swoosh is already experimenting with this new technology, Stone's prediction is not exactly far-fetched. What do you think? Do you want to be able to 3D print, say, a pair of Air Jordans?
