Extra Butter is doing big things lately. The shop, which was founded in Rockville Centre, N.Y. in 2007, is one of the game's best sneaker collaborators right now, and its collaboration with Saucony is a big part of the shop's success.

Having already released its Grid 9000 titled "Aces," Extra Butter just had an in-store release of its "Space Snack" Shadow Master this weekend. And it's going to drop the sneakers online, Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. for $130.

We got a hold of Jason Faustino, co-owner of Extra Butter, and discussed everything Extra Butter, Saucony, and their "Space Snack" sneaker. It goes way deeper than just astronaut ice cream. Here's Everything You Need to Know About Extra Butter x Saucony.

Movies play a big part in Extra Butter's stories. So what's Faustino's favorite space film?

The sneaker has a gum sole, and there's not a thematic reason behind it.

Hanon's work with Saucony inspired Extra Butter.

Extra Butter collaborated with Publish Brand on a jacket, too.

The international release is not in the shop's hands.

This is how the design process happens.

Why Saucony?

This is why Extra Butter uses stories in its collaborations:

The "Space Snack" sneaker came to Faustino as an afterthought.

If it wasn't for Nike's "Galaxy" pack, the sneakers would have looked different.

Saucony's history producing astronaut boots inspired the collaboration.
