Ronnie Fieg Flashes Some Gold ASICS Gel Lyte IIIs

Ronnie said he'd hurt some feelings with something he was going to wear today: Asics GL3s in solid gold.

Today marked the release of the highly anticipated (understatement) Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel Lyte V “Cove” and “Mint Leaf.” People fought their way through the interwebs, bots were thwarted by tricky coding, and folks visited the two shops in NYC to cash their tickets in for pairs.

Before the release, this morning, Ronnie tweeted that he was going to “wear some shit to hurt feelings today” and collab heads throughout the Twitterverse felt their hearts aflutter for a glimpse at a possible upcoming release.

Thanks to Instagram user most_hated_89 we were able to get a clear shot of the kicks. Ronnie showed up at the NYC shop this morning wearing a pair of metallic gold Gel Lyte IIIs, made in materials similar but bolder than his Solid Gold GL3 from back in 2007. The shoes feature mismatched split tongues, the inside is white on both of them but the outside on the right is navy, and on the left is a deep, rich red. (You can see Ronnie wore mismatched socks to help you out if you didn't notice the color switch. You're welcome.) The same red graces the outsole and laces.

There’s no word if this was an early sample of the Solid Golds, something he has up his sleeve for the future, or something he just made for himself. The world may never know.

UPDATE: Since publishing this story, Ronnie took to Instagram to show off another angle of the shoes. He also included an Emoji of the American flag, explaining the split colorblocking: it's Red, White, and Blue from left to right. July 4th is coming our way fast...
