The day is almost upon us: Nike's Air Max Day. This Wednesday, March 26, celebrates 27 years since Nike first released the Air Max 1—designed by Tinker Hatfield—the first sneaker to ever feature a visible Air unit.

To celebrate the day, Nike is re-visiting the Air Max (runner) history, and has even made a special-edition pair of Air Max 1s that come in the sneaker's O.G. white/red color scheme with a bright-yellow midsole.

Air Maxes are popular here in the States, but they hold a mythical status in Europe, especially in countries such as Germany, Holland, and England. As proof of that, Berlin's Overkill has been getting in the mood for this holiday. On the shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts, it has been breaking out O.G. pairs of the runners and showcasing their original advertising, too. If you're in Berlin, you can stop by the shop and check out an Air Max display that runs from Wednesday until April 5.

You can read the store's in-depth take on the runners here. But we've compiled some of the shop's hits in a slideshow. Get ready to run the world this week.
