Hang tight, NFL fans, we're now one step closer to the 2013 Super Bowl. Yesterday, the San Fransisco 49ers and Denver Broncos were able to stay in the playoff hunt and advance to their respective conference championship games.

From Charlotte, NC, the 49ers took it to the Panthers for a 23-10 win. Carolina's Cam Newton came up big for the Panthers, but it just wasn't enough to stop Colin Kaepernick and company. Kaepernnick threw for 196 yards and a TD as San Fransisco advanced to next Sunday's NFC title game against the Seattle Seahawks.

In Denver, the Broncos were able to shut down the San Diego Chargers 24-17. San Diego rallied towards the end, looking to even up the score, but Denver's defense and a big day from Payton Manning helped the Broncos hang on. Manning went 25-36 for 230 yards and two TDs as the Broncos advanced to the AFC championship game against New England, which will kick off from Denver on Sunday.

NCAA men's hoops brought plenty of Top 25 action yesterday, including No. 20 Iowa dealing a huge upset to No. 3 Ohio State. You can catch up on this and more of yesterday's NCAA and NBA action, including the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats, after the jump.

Be sure to stick with Sneaker Report for ongoing Australian Open coverage as the action heats up from Melbourne this week.
