They say pimpin' ain't easy. Neither is making $100M. But one 26-year-old Portland pimp is suing Nike for that amount, claiming that Nike and Phil Knight hadn't warned him that his Air Jordan sneakers could be used as a deadly weapon, The Oregonian reports.
The pimp, Sirgiorgiro Clardy, is serving a 100-year sentence for beating a John in 2012 with his sneaker after he refused to pay Clardy's prostitute.
Clardy stated: "Under product liability there is a certain standard of care that is required to be up-held by potentially dangerous product.
Due to the fact that these defendants named in this Tort claim failed to warn of risk or to provide an adequate warning or instruction it has caused him personal injury in the likes of mental suffering."
People are assaulted over sneakers all too often—Air Jordans at that—but usually not by them. We don't know what's worse: Clardy's lawsuit, or that he looks like Boots Riley from The Coup.
