Jordan Brand has turned a lot of heads over the years with its out-of-the-box approach to basketball sneakers. The latest example? The Jordan Future.

In March of this year, Jumpman will introduce a brand new lifestyle shoe that blends old school soul with a modern design that is sure to get the sneaker community buzzing. Appropriate named the Future, the shoe uses a simple yet intricate woven upper design complete with 3M reflectivity throughout. Even the shoe’s green translucent sole glows like something from a sci-fi flick.

When Jordan Brand set out to create the Future, the brand wasn’t worried about stirring a controversy. In fact, in a way it welcomed it. "You want an emotion," says Jordan Brand footwear director David Schecter. "It's OK to have something polarizing, but you want something."

"We talk about all the time, honor the past and be faster than the future," added Schecter. "No pun intended on the shoe."

Look for the Jordan Future to hit retailers starting March 1, 2014. The shoe is expected to be priced at $185.
