Is anyone (besides the Chicago Bulls) going to be able to stop the Indiana Pacers? Last night, they advanced to 16-1 after a 105-100 win over the Clippers. The Pacers will be walking around with a target on their back as they try to hang on to their number one spot in the league, and tonight they meet their toughest match yet. Another one of the season's most successful teams, the 14-3 Portland Trail Blazers, will host Indiana at 10PM eastern. In fact, the Blazers are tied with the Heat and Spurs for the second best record in the NBA, so tonight's game is technically #1 vs. #2. Don't miss it!
As the Pacers prepare for their biggest challenge of the season, small forward Danny Granger just hasn't been getting it going offensively the way he has in years past. On December 2, 2008, Indiana hosted the Los Angeles Lakers from Conseco Fieldhouse. The Lakers outscored Indiana in the first three quarters of play, but the Pacers powered back with 32 to LA's 16 in the fourth period. In this game, Danny Granger was a huge factor, dropping 32 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds on the Lakers. The most interesting part of it all is that the Lakers came into this game with a 14-1 record, much like the Pacers of today, before Indiana dealt them their second loss.
