What a night of sports! Yesterday had a little something for everyone, with college football being the highlight. There were some big games on the field, but the biggest had to be No. 1 Alabama taking on No. 13 LSU. The Crimson Tide advanced to 9-0 after a 38-17 win powered by QB AJ McCarron, who passed for three touchdowns and 179 yards. The biggest upset of the night was the unranked Virginia Tech Hokies downing No. 11 Miami 42-24 on the strength of four TDs from freshman running back Trey Edmunds (pictured.) In Tennessee, it was business as usual for Auburn as they put a 55-23 hurting on the Volunteers.

On the NBA hardwood, the night's biggest story was the meeting of two of the league's top young players, Kyrie Irving and rookie Michael Carter-Williams. As the Cleveland Cavaliers met the Philadelphia 76ers in a double overtime thriller, both up-and-coming stars were in top form as the game went down to the wire. Kyrie Irving scored the game-winning layup and had a season-high 39 points along with 12 assists, while Michael Carter-Williams had 21 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds. In Boston, King James came close to a triple-double with 25 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds, but the Heat suffered a one-point upset in the end.

In the ATP World Tour Finals, Roger Federer defeated Jaun Martin del Potro 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to advance to the semifinals against Nadal, which will take place this morning.

All this and more including Barclays Premier League action after the jump.
