With the Miami Heat 14 games into the season, we get the feeling there is something different about the Nike LeBron 11. A little more than one-sixth of the way thru the regular season, LeBron has only worn his latest signature shoe thoughout for a single game.
Riding the current basketball sneaker trend of a three-layered upper, the LeBron 11 features Foamposite panels (called Armorposite) on top of the synthetic upper with mesh underlays. The current LeBron also brings back Zoom Air units and Dynamic Flywire from the previous model and pairs it with a Lunarlon foam for a lightweight-yet-low ride. As this is the most slimmed-down signature released as part of the LeBron series, could this be why he has mostly worn the former X Elite version instead?
Check out 5 NBA players that have worn the Nike LeBron 11 for a full game before LeBron James himself has.
Game Worn: 11/18 vs Thunder
Wilson Chandler definitely ticked off all of the major stat columns against the Thunder while wearing the LeBron 11 "Gamma Blue" putting up 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Game Worn: 11/24 vs Magic
No stranger to lacing up LeBrons or personalized Nike iD creations, Marcus Morris, the younger of the Morris twins, bested his 7-minute-older brother Markieff by putting up 26 points, 7 assist, and 2 assists while hitting both of his three-point attempts. Marcus made his Nike iD LeBron 11 to hook up with the purple Phoenix Suns uniform and to possibly out do his brother in the Foamposite One "Suns."
Game Worn: 11/16 vs Knicks
DeMarre Carroll ended the game +10 thanks to his 10 points, 4 boards, and single assist and steal. Hitting all of his free throws also helped. This game broke the 5-game losing streak situation to the Knicks that the Hawks had accumulated in the last few seasons.
Game Worn: 11/20 vs Kings
Even though Marcus Morris also wore the LeBron 11 "Forging Iron" against Sacramento on November 20, it was PJ Tucker that put together the more impressive stats filling the sheet with 5 rebounds and 3 assists to go along with his dozen points and single steal.
DeMarcus Cousins seems to have had a epiphany this season, as he's kept his attitude (for the most part) in check while playing to his full potential. For the majority of the season, Boogie has been wearing the 'Terracotta Warrior' colorway of the LeBron 11 which hooks up perfectly to the Kings uniform thanks to the purple accents.
Since Cousins is about 20 lbs heavier than James, you have to wonder why the two-time champion doesn't find them suitable as they seem to contain DeMarcus just fine.
