New Balance 1400v2 1

We’ve been raving about the New Balance 1400v2 all summer long. Now, with marathon season in full swing, the highly anticipated racing flat from NB has finally arrived.

An update to the original 1400, the 1400v2 builds on the success of its predecessor, but comes with some key performance upgrades to help runners further tear up the pavement.

While core features of the 1400v2, like a REVlite midsole and Ndurance rubber outsole remain the same, the shoe’s upper has been refreshed for enhanced aesthetic appeal, as well as improved comfort and a more streamlined fit. The upper features a no-sew mesh construction with synthetic overlays for lightweight support. Due to the use of less materials, the 1400v2 weighs in at 6.3 ounces—almost an entire ounce lighter than the previous model.

The toe box on the 1400v2 looks to be slightly narrower than before (something to consider for runners with wide feet). The shoe has a 10mm heel-to-toe offset that promotes natural motion running, making it a great choice for speedy tempo runs and distance runs alike. Hence why it's considered to be one of the best running shoes of Fall 2013.

The New Balance 1400v2 is available in three initial color offerings, including the yellow silhouette seen above.
