Each version of the Gel-Noosa Tri running shoe that Asics puts out seems to be brighter and bolder than the last, and this time around it’s no different. Today, we get a look at the latest version of the popular triathlon shoe, the Asics Gel-Noosa Tri 9—a shoe that could very well be the best-looking runner of 2014.

While the design of the Gel-Noosa Tri 9 looks to be a complete overhaul, given its long-running success, the performance updates are much more minimal. For the first time ever, the Noosa Tri series will get a seamless upper for runners who like to go without socks.

The Noosa Tri 9 will feature the same dual density midsole seen in the current version for top-notch support and stability, along with Gel cushioning units in both the heel and forefoot for impact protection. Also included is an identical Impact Guidance System for a fluid heel-to-toe strike, and elastic laces for easy on and off during triathlon stage changes.

As for aesthetics, the shoe features an open air mesh upper with a thin webbing over overlays that subtly spell out “NOOSA.” The shoe has also been given a glow-in-the-dark treatment to allow runners to hit the midnight trail with confidence.

The Asics Gel-Noosa Tri 9 will be available starting January 2014. The MSRP is listed at $140 (a $10 increase from the Tri 8).
