Tiger Woods has been struggling more than usual this year, but with a win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and analysts favoring him to win this weekend's The Barclays, hopefully Woods will be able to get back to form. Unfortunately, he won't be winning a major this season. It's been five years since Woods won the 2008 US Open, and it remains to be seen if he'll return to the prominence he once held in the world of golf.
On August 21, 2000, Woods was in the process of building his legend with a win at the 2000 PGA Championship. It was the second straight PGA win for Woods, who finished tied with Bob May at 18 under par (a PGA Championship record at the time) and went on to defeat May in a three-hole playoff.
Tiger became the first player since Denny Shute in 1973 to win consecutive tournaments and the first since 1953 to win three majors in a calendar year. With U.S. Open, British Open, and PGA Championship wins under his belt, Tiger won the Masters in April 2001, branding the term "Tiger Slam" for winning four consecutive majors, albeit not in a single calendar year.
During this period, Tiger wore his first official Nike signature spike, the Air Zoom TW. The no-frills model was designed with a supple black leather upper and responsive Zoom Air cushioning. Unfortunately, Nike hasn't shown any indication of a retro Tiger Woods collection, but you can pick up his latest signature model, the TW '14, for $180.
