Fila is well known for its classic tennis style. But the brand seems to have taken a more modern approach to designing its latest footwear creation, the Sentinel.

Designed as an all-around tennis shoe, the Fila Sentinel is the shoe you want if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck. Sure there are flashier tennis shoes out there, but if you’re a no-nonsense type of players, this is the shoe for you.

The Sentinel is all about keeping you comfortable out on the court. Fila has put a lot of focus on cushioning and stability, and it shoes in the Sentinel’s makeup. It features a molded sockliner, as well as a Lateral Stability Component, for proper support, allowing players to move around the court swiftly. The shoe’s Super Action midsole is lighter and more durable than standard EVA foam—this means quicker response time and an extended life expectancy for the shoe.

A solid tennis shoe has to be able to perform on multiple surfaces. With the Sentinel, that’s exactly what you get. The shoe’s Evergrind herringbone outsole performs best on the hard court, but is versatile enough to be used on clay and other soft surfaces.

With so much performance technology packed into one shoe, overheating under the hood can be a problem. Fortunately, the Sentinal has a perforated mesh and synthetic upper that allows air to flow through to help regulate the temperature of your feet during intense game play.

Bottom Line: The Fila Sentinel is a solid choice for amateur-to-pro level players looking for the maximum amount of comfort in a lightweight package. The Sentinel probably won’t win any design awards any time soon, but it has all the makings of a pure tennis sneaker.
