The next edition of Newton Running’s lightest racing shoe ever is shaping up to be even better than the current model, as we take a look today at the upcoming MV3 trainer.

An update of the MV2, the Newton MV3 isn’t any lighter than its predecessor. In fact, it’s 0.2 ounces heavier. But don’t expect that extra weight to slow you down any—it’s unlikely you’ll notice a difference. As with every Newton shoe, the MV3 will feature Action/Reaction midfoot technology designed for forward momentum, as well as the same zero-drop platform for a natural foot strike. The upgrades come in the toe box, which has been tweaked to allow more room up front. It also features a more generous toecap for improved durability. The shoe’s upper has also been upgraded with an ultra-light mesh upper that breathes better and dries quicker for greater overall comfort.

The expected release date for the Newton MV3 is July 15, 2013. Keep your eyes out for this one if you’re in the market for a high-performing short-to-middle distance running shoe this summer.
