Why Brands Need To Slow Down With Retro Sneakers

Lack of Appreciation

With so many retros dropping for various reasons, people don't get a full appreciation of the shoe and it's history. The Air Jordan III '88 is a perfect example of how it should be done, paying homage to the shoe on its 25th anniversary so people got a true feel of what the sneaker was all about. But all too quickly it was on to the next, with hardly a pause — and then a disconnected-from-the-original-anniversary restock. Context is important when it comes to retros, or at least it should be.
