Wimbledon fever is in the air, as the annual tournament has officially kicked off across pond. The opening round was filled with excitement, but the biggest shocker of all had to be the first-round elimination of two-time Wimbledon champ Rafael Nadal. He was defeated by Steve Darcis of Belgium in straight sets 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8), 6-4.
Making the upset even more surprising is the fact that Nadal hasn't lost to a player ranked as low as Darcis since his 2006 loss to Joachim Johansson in Stockholm. Even more—before today, Darcis has only won a single Wimbledon match. It will certainly be interesting to see if the young player can extend his momentum as the tournament rolls on.
For what was undoubtedly the biggest match of his life, Darcis wore what appears to be a grass-specific version of the original Asics Gel-Resolution model. While you'll be hard pressed to track down this exact style, the Asics Gel-Resolution 5 is the latest offering in the popular tennis line and is available today for $130.
