While April was top-heavy on running sneakers, in May, we’re slated to get a heavy dosage of basketball and football footwear hitting retail shelves across the nation. But don’t worry. If you’re a golfer, gym rat, or runner, there are some choice sneakers in store for you this month as well. These are the 10 Sneakers We’re Looking Forward to This April.

Back in 1998, Nike launched the very first Mercurial football cleat. Today, some 15 years later, the Swoosh has recreated the iconic boot inspired by one of the most dominant players of the time, Brazil’s Ronaldo.

The original Silber/Yellow/Blue worn by Ronaldo in ’98 will be re-released in limited quantities, but it’s not quite the same boot you may remember. Along with the Volt color upgrades on the upper, the shoe has been conformed to perform to today’s standards. It features the body of the Mercurial IX—meaning Nike has also done away with the original stitched upper, and replaced it with a one-piece, seamless upper for a more streamlined look. The boot’s spike plate and heel counter have also been modified.

The Mercurial IX Special Edition will be available starting May 8 at select retailers, including Nike. 1,998 pairs will be available.
