Kennedy Meeks

A 6-foot-9, 275-pound center from Charlotte, Meeks elected to stay close to home, picking the University of North Carolina over Georgetown. Ranked in the Top 5 of his position, Meeks is a talented rebounder with burgeoning post skills. (Note: His conversation with Complex was hijacked midway by Drake and his father.)

Favorite Air Jordan: “White Cement 3’s.”

You’re going to UNC next year, obviously Michael Jordan’s college team. Did that figure in at all?

I mean, that’s definitely cool. It’s more they kind of made me understand what they wanted me to do next year, to come in and help them out on offense an defense, so that’s what helped me make my decision.

How did it feel to play in this game with all the heritage behind Jordan’s career?

I mean, it’s just an honor to play in this game. And it’s an honor to play for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next year. It’s just all an honor, man.

What was it like looking up at the skybox and knowing Jordan was watching you play basketball?

It was pretty cool. I mean, I’ve met him before, but…

Drake: Yeah man, you know what I’m saying, if you really want my opinion on the whole situation man, I think we did everything we could. Know what I’m sayin’? We got the big dog (Meeks) out there… they kept me on the bench for the whole game, but I feel good about everything, you know, he handled business.

Thank you, Drake… Last couple of questions: How did it feel playing in the XX8’s?

They were comfortable … Drake’s dad, what’s up, baby?

Drake’s dad: What’s going on, baby? I saw you playing out there, I saw you!

Appreciate it! … But yeah, it was cool. They’re comfortable. I like the high top and the low top, and altogether it’s a good sneaker.
