We’ve already seen heavyweights like Wisconsin and Kansas State go down prematurely in the early rounds of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Now, we can add the second seeded Georgetown Hoyas to that list.

Friday night, the Hoyas were the latest victims of a major upset, as they were bounced from the tourney by No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast, 78-68. Led by star guard Sherwood Brown, the FGCU Eagles went into Wells Fargo Center with a game plan, and executed with perfection in just the school’s second season of being eligible for the Division I postseason.

Brown dropped 24 points and nine rebounds in a pair of blue Nike Hyperdunk 2012, helping the Eagles hold off a late rally from the Hoyas. FGCU will need a similar output from Brown if they hope to make it to the Elite Eight round. Next up, they’ll await the winner of the on-going San Diego St-Oklahoma matchup.
