Not many folks gave La Salle much of a shot at beating No. 4 seed Kansas State heading into Friday’s second round matchup, but that’s why they play the game.

Led by sophomore forward Jerrell Wright, the La Salle Explorers held off K-State after nearly blowing the 18-point lead they built up by halftime. Wright dropped a game-high 21 points on an efficient 6-for-6 shooting, and added eight rebounds and a couple of blocks in a pair of Under Armour Micro G basketball shoes.

The A-10 Conference is now 6-0 in this year’s tournament, with two of those wins accredited to the Explorers. La Salle will continue its impressive run on Sunday against Ole Miss—another team that wasn’t expected to make it into the third round, but were able to pull off their own upset against Wisconsin earlier today.
