That number one spot has been hard to hold down all season and last night, unranked Illinois all but made sure we’ll see a new first ranked team on Monday. So far, Indiana (twice), Duke (twice), Louisville and Michigan all fell when crowned the nations best.

Illini center, Tyler Griffey had good numbers off the bench with 14 points and eight rebounds. None of the 14 points were more important than his last uncontested layup to win the game. Even though the shot looked easy and he owes his awareness to getting open, the Nike Hyperdunk 2012’s pivot-point allowed Griffey to make the cut after screening Cody Zeller to get open.
