Back in 1972 German soccer player Gerd Muller set the all-time scoring record by netting 85 goals in a calendar year. Forty years later (and just days ago), some guy by the name of Lionel Messi broke Muller's longstanding record with a few weeks to spare. Coincidentally, it just so happens that both superstars set their respective marks in a pair of adidas cleats— Mueller in the old school adidas 2000s, and Messi in the more modern adiZero f50s. To commemorate the new mark set by Leo, adidas has rolled out a new "Making History" ad featuring both the black adidas 2000 and the yellow adiZero f50 fused together to make one sweet looking silhouette. The special ad is a nod to adidas' success on the soccer pitch, past and present. It almost makes you wonder what the tally would come out to if Muller had a pair of Messi's f50s to play in.
