Can Paul George be a franchise player? That’s the main question analysts have asked since George was drafted by the Pacers and it’s still too early to tell if he’ll ever show the T-Mac type talent people think he has. While the jury is still out on if he’s Indiana’s player of the future, George channeled a favorite son of the past last night, topping Reggie Miller’s franchise record for 3-point field goals made in a game with nine at home in the 115-107 win against the Hornets.

Playing in the Air Jordan 11’s, George let shots fly from deep. Five of his three pointers came after halftime and if the Space Jam’s had anything to do with it, it had to be the comfortable fit and confidence they give you on the court. Confidence you say? Yes, just like MJ’s “Secret Stuff” in the movie he rocked these kicks in, wearing the 11’s gives any player a bit of mental boost. They’re arguably one of the most iconic kicks of all time and if you have ever balled in them before, you know they’re lightweight, durable and for a player like George who has so many skills, confidence is usually the last ingredient needed to get buckets on any given night. The traction in the clear outsole is the best technical feature, but the being “like Mike” factor wins out with this pair.
