By now, the Oregon Ducks have become synonymous with innovation. Thanks mainly to the school’s unique relationship with nearby Nike, the Ducks have consistently been the best outfitted football team in all of college football, and perhaps even all of sports.

Each season, the Ducks unveil a plethora of interesting on-field looks to match their superior level of athletic abilities. In the first game of the 2012 season, the Ducks came out in a combination of green jerseys and yellow pants, along with the yellow Liquid Lighting helmet. For their week two matchup against the Fresno State Bulldogs, Chip Kelly’s team went with a silver/yellow Nike Pro Combat uniform combination. And for the first time, the team strapped up in their brand new chrome Liquid Carbon helmet. The combination worked very well for the Ducks, as they looked stellar in their rout of Fresno State. The Carbon helmet, especially, was stellar.

In hopes that the best is still yet to come, we’ll start the Ducks off with a B+, giving them a bit of room for improvement. After all, there’s still a lot of football to be played. Through the course of the season, as the Ducks continue to switch up their look, Sneaker Report will track and rate each uniform variation worn by the currently No. 5 ranked team in the nation. At the end of the season we’ll decide which look topped the rest.

Next up for the Ducks is another home game against Tennessee Tech. Stay tuned.

Grade: B+
