Nike isn’t going to wait until 2018 to make their move—their time is now.
Starting next season, Nike will be the official kit provider for England’s national soccer team, replacing Umbro, who has outfitted England since the 1950s. After buying Umbro back in 2007, Nike has come to a decision to sell the brand by the end of this year. Umbro’s deal with Nike was initially supposed to run through 2018, however, Nike decided to pull the trigger much sooner.
Along with the England contract, Nike will take over as official outfitter for Manchester City as well.
