Way before it became a b-boy staple—even before Run DMC—the adidas Superstar was a state-of-the-art basketball shoe. When the Superstar was introduced in 1969, the Converse Chuck Taylor was still king of the courts, and hardly anyone was wearing leather sneakers. The German company and their French-made shoes made an immediate impact on the sport in America, as players on every level sought out the shelltoe shoes with the Three Stripes. This size 11 1/2 pair isn't perfect, but they're still a prime example of a very important sneaker.
