If you think that Supra invented the super-high hightop sneaker, think again. Nike introduced the Double Team Hi way back in 1983, which was basically one hightop stacked onto—and partially into—another. No doubt the construction was intended to prevent ankle injuries, but one would imagine it also affected mobility. Perhaps the most surprising thing is that Nike felt the need to create a shoe like this AFTER the Air Force 1 Hi. If you're a size 10.5, you're welcome to try this esoteric piece of Nike history out for yourself.
