24. Diamond Supply Co. x Nike Dunk Low Pro SB "Tiffany"

Year: 2005

2005 feels like such a long, long time ago but the full-blown collector culture was in effect by that point. The dawn of the hype blog had kids updated, CNN-style, as to when these were hitting and they represent one of the last examples of real Dunk pandemonium (after the Pigeon mayhem the same year), before the 'What the Dunks' parodied the craze in 2007.  Diamond Supply's take on the Dunk was a lift of a higher end inspiration, taking Tiffany & Co's colors to the upper of the hype totem of the time. Diamond Dunks were a hype fiend's best friend, and the textured materials and metallic Swoosh just increased the desire for this release. There's been returns to that Pantone shade that's close to the trademarked Tiffany Blue (Pantone number 1837, in line with the company's launch year) on Nike releases, but nothing comes close to the original. It's worth pondering the potential outcome of these and the Gucci-themed RESN release — another Dunk from the Diamond Supply stable — dropping in succession, if the RESN hadn't been shelved until 2009. Unlike many impulse buys of the mid '00s, these are a definite keeper, even though the all-important resell price remains astronomical.
