Half of the sneaker game is knowing what kicks are out when, and which shops have them. Our Shelf Space column looks at what shops around the country are stocking in a given week, and gives a quick glimpse into the mind of the buyer/manager/owner who put them there.

This week, we're checking in with NJ Skateshop, one of the Garden State's premier skate stores. Famed author and man-about-town Chris Nieratko, the founder/owner of the store, and his partner, Steve Lenardo, selected 10 of their best-selling kicks from each of their three locations and gave us their take on each one. Hit the jump to see what they have to say about each of their selections and be sure to stop in one of NJ Skateshop's three locations in Sayreville, Hoboken, or New Brunswick. NJskateshop.com

Vans - Chukka Low, $55
"This is an NJ Skateshop best seller and is also Vans' best-selling skate shoe. Classic chukka boot, cut down and padded where needed. Looks good, skates great, tastes sublime."

Vans - Era, $42
"O.G. timeless shoe. This is the shoe that you can wear from birth 'til death. We've sold infants Eras and every age right up to senior citizens. This fall, Vans releases the Era Pro, which will update the Era for better skate function. It's going to be the same idea as the Chukka Low; a guaranteed hit for back to school."

Adidas - Busenitz, $80
"Dennis Busentiz is one of today's raddest skaters. He skates fast as hell, which was why we pushed Real brand skateboards to do a deck collab with NJ last year with the Flash logo on it. It's no surprise that Dennis would make a clean, good-looking, functional skate shoe that makes use of that adidas heritage look. If you don't like the high tongue, it's perforated so you can circumcise it yourself."

CONS - Pappalardo Pro, $65
"Clean, classic Converse styling. It doesn't matter the color, this shoe is always a hit. This navy one was made for Project RED to help fight AIDS, because as we all know, AIDS sucks. "

Nike SB - Dunk High Premium "Bruce Springsteen", $110
"This is the July 2010 SB Quickstrike designed by NJ Skateshop and inspired by Freehold, NJ's most famous son's hit album, Born In the USA. It will be available Saturday, July 3rd at all three NJ locations along with a limited, exclusive NJ x Anti Hero Skateboard, a matching NJ tee, and an exclusive Todd Bratrud tee."

Nike SB - Dunk Low Premium, $95
"Dunk Lows are a constant seller. Sneakerheads took it on the chin this past year when Nike SB thinned out the tongue. Once the tongue goes back to being thick we foresee a lot of SB fans coming back to the Dunk Low."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nike SB - Stefan Janoski, $75
"Hands down Nike SB's best-selling shoe. Doesn't matter the color, skaters and sneakerheads love them all. It's just a basic, clean-looking shoe. And Stefan Janoski rips."

Lakai - Manchester Select, $55
"Lakai took its classic Manchester, lost the cup sole, and switched it to vulcanized, which is what 90% of people are wearing these days. A comfortable, basic shoe at a good price."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shelf-Space-NJ-9

eS x Krooked - Square One, $65
"éS team rider and soon-to-be-pro for Mark Gonzales's Krooked Skateboards, Mike Anderson got to choose the color for this Square One. He dedicated it to his good friend and fallen skater, Van Wastell. Square One is éS's best seller and Mike is one of their raddest guys; the combination has customers stoked."

Emerica - Reynolds Cruiser, $65
"Andrew Reynolds is regarded as one of skateboarding's greats and he's always been at the forefront of skate-shoe design. He knocked it out of the park again with this simple, low-cut boat-style shoe. With Emerica's DVD STAY GOLD coming out later this summer you'll be hearing the name Andrew Reynolds a lot more."
