They say "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery," but more often than not, imitation just leaves us questioning the designer—really? It happens a lot, and sometimes the new guy actually does it better than the O.G. So often that these instances of "imitation" have us asking "Who did it better?" each week.
Bape continues its legacy of re-working classics into their own creations, this time using the Converse Chuck Taylor as their canvas. The Chucks are time-honored and have a strong following including Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi. But who wins? Has Bape fixed what wasn't broken? Or was Converse the 1st and the best? I actually read somewhere (probably on this site) why BAPE doesn't get sued. Something to do with it costing a lot to even bother with the matter. But I have NEVER been a BAPE fan. Even at their peek the clothes were never great looking and there hasn't been much as far as creativity from the company. The Chuck's started the ball rolling and if you want a TRUE classic it's THE shoe to cop.

i love bape. but i really dont see the difference at all. like people are like awe fuck that nothing messes with the allstars, but honestly what are the allstars. i understand history and what not, but honestly take the bapeing off and litterally u get a converse allstar.lol like theres no comfort or quality factor in this at all. Also i wouldnt call bape "copiers" cuz the chuck taylor sillouette has been used A MILLION TIMES. So don't get on bape just cuz they did one too.

actually i take that back if u look at them bape actually looks like 10x better quality. So take the bape tags off and u get an UPGRADED chucktaylor.

JROD you are wack. What company other than Bape copies nearly every classic shoe: Air Force Ones, New Balance 574s, Adidas Shell Toes, Clark Wallabees AND Desert Treks, Converse...what will be next. But if you want to pay over $200 for a pair of rip-offs, be my guest homeboy.
