Half of the sneaker game is knowing what kicks are out when, and which shops have them. Our column, "Shelf Space" looks at what shops around the country are stocking in a given week and allows for a quick glimpse into the mind of the buyer/owner who put them there.
This week, while we're enjoying this great New York weather in real life, we've been taking a look at what to do down in Miami on the web side of things. Yesterday we profiled the shop scene down there, but today we wanted to get a bit more in depth with Shoe Gallery, one of the top sneaker spots in the 305. Danny Waserstein, manager of Shoe Gallery took the time to show us what his shop is currently stocking on the shelves and talked us through their top picks, including the Vans Marlins Chukkas that drop on opening day tomorrow. If you're in the Miami stop in at the Shoe Gallery at 244 NE 1st Ave, and hit the jump to see the stock.
adidas x Jeremy Scott "JS 3 Tongue Lo", $200
"Jeremy Scott blew us away with the debut of the detachable wing, but these sweet loafers are sleek enough for a suit, yet wild enough for the youth. The triple layered tassel is a great way to represent Adidas's passion for the number 3."
AMQ Puma Technical K.O. Luxe, $266
"The legendary designer left us with some serious sneaker heat. This is just a taste of what he's done in his career."
Red Wing 6" Moc-Toe Classic Lifestyle (Track Tred Wedge), $200
"Even in Miami's heat, boots are a fan favorite. The temperamental weather calls for a durable boot. A pair of these, a V-neck, with PRPS jeans and you're ready for any post-apocalyptic situation."
Nike All Court Mid, $85
"This is a Tier Zero classic that the streets will be seeing way more often. The toe guard helps it stand out compared to your regular Nike Blazer, and the velvet brown is a perfect color for the 'low key' customer."
Timberland Tackhead F/L Boot, $85
"Where can we start with this beautifully built boot?! With a unique blend of materials, Timberland really went back to their roots. Leather and waxed canvas on the upper and a classic wood and rubber sole combination places the Timberland Boot Company on the top list of any boot connoisseur."
Android Homme MACH1, $140
"The company Android Homme is well known for expressing their thoughts through the media of sneakers. The shape of this shoe is eye-striking and the mix of patent leather and suede is well balanced, thanks to the perforated side panels and limp tongue."
Nike Air Foamposite Boot, $225
"When the Foamposite Boot was leaked to the Internet back in 2008, there was only bad reviews about the immorality of mixing a basketball shoe with your regular ACG Goadome. Three colorways later, the customers are begging for more. Great boot to turn the working man's neck."
Nike Air Max 1, $92
"For 13 years and counting, the Air Max 1 has been the staple "air bubble" running shoe. With collaborations from stores like Collete recently, the shoe is making a great resurrection."
Clark Desert Boot, $100
"The Clark Desert Boot was designed to replicate the boots worn by the British Eighth Army during World War II. This nostalgic model has been a great seller for us since the 80's. Only someone from Jamaica can give you a true explanation as to why this boot is so iconic."
Vans Vault Chukka LX
"The Shoe Gallery Team is honored to carry the Florida Marlins Major League Baseball Vans pack consisting of the special Vault by Vans Chukka LX and Majestic jersey combo that will drop April 9th. Just 12 pairs will be available only at Shoe Gallery."
