"Looking back, this was another one of those shoes that has mythology continuing to carry it on. The whole story with the line-up and the riots and NYPD were not orchestrated, but because they all came together it really made the shoe bigger than what it really was. The shoe was nothing super innovative, but the mythology really carries it forward. I do think the one thing that the Pigeon Dunk did do was create a separation of sneaker culture before the Pigeon Dunk, and sneaker culture after the Pigeon Dunk, for better or for worse."
