"This is a very, very old shoe from back in the 80s. Nike had just started doing cross training, which had gotten really popular at the time, and then they had this other series they were doing for the AF II which was called the Escape series. Escape was a precursor to what is now known as ACG. Nike decided to marry the two lines into this shoe, which was what Bo Jackson used to wear before he got his own shoe."
