"I have a couple of shoes on this list that are on it because they are so ugly. The Air Raid is one of them. It's just so ugly that it's awesome. It came out at a time when Reebok was really kicking Nike's ass in terms of outdoor basketball shoes with their Blacktop program, and the Air Raid was their answer to that. The Air Raid was just classic Nike, innovating to the point where it's kind of overboard. That's the beauty of Nike though, they often do a shoe that goes over-the-top but they manage to scale it back later."
