"I have a pair that Jesse Leyva gave me a while ago that were a wear test sample. A wear test is basically a sample that gets made after the prototype sample that is usually made in 3 or 4 different sizes and then sent to 3 or 4 different people to wear them and then come back with feedback. If you know these shoes, you know that the AF1 Baseball High looks like a baseball mitt. It has the stitching and is made out of baseball glove leather. So when I got the wear test, it was really amazing, but when I saw what came out in production, it was pretty ugly in comparison. They changed the colors and some of the details, but it was cool to see how it goes from prototype, to wear test, to market, and how it gets watered down in each step. The box and the label on these were pretty crazy too."
