Jesse Leyva's 50 Favorite Sneakers

Jesse Leyva's 50 Favorite Sneakers

When it comes to awesomeness in sneakers, Jesse Leyva is the man over at Nike who we can thank for most of the game-changing product of the last ten years or so. Jesse has been a Nike designer since he left college, and has risen to the ranks at the Swoosh to become its Nike Sportswear's Footwear Design Director. He has overseen the making of most of the Quickstrikes and Tier Zero kicks marked as "Grails" by sneakerheads, and is a key player in the emergence of Nike Sportswear's footwear game. Nike's Pro B series? Jesse. Clerks pack? Jesse. Hybrids? Thank Jesse Leyva. A big part of designing new shoes, especially in the lifestyle category where Nike Sportswear sits, is knowing one's history. Jesse has serious experience in the sneaker game (dating back to waiting on line to buy original Jordan 1s), so we hit him for our latest "Top 50" list. He took us through the 50 sneakers that he fanned out on before he was making them all himself, so check this countdown list complete with anecdotes about each silhouette. There are some definite classics on here, and some that a lot of us missed. Check out "Jesse Leyva's 50 Favorite Sneakers".

Isn't this a pic of a baseball cleat, though? Metal spikes in football - maybe if they were still wearing leather helmets?

This has to be the best " favorites shoes" I have ever seen. Very eclectic, very rare and unexpecting. As a Nike employee I respect this guys work and all his creations.

No wonder nike is releasing wack s**t. This guy is a croc lover. #9 Footscape. #5 Lava dome. #4 Terra Humara. He list cleats on the top 50. Air terra albis, Air terra salbis, Air DESCHUTZ???? Air sunder? Air kukini? Those shoes went straight to the sale rack at Marshall. I dont even think they made it to the nordstrom rack where your daddy liked to take you. "My creative director loves this" BLah BLah Blah. Thank god he puts some dunks jordan and trainers in his top 3. But Camon MAN # 46 is the jordan III. Complex let me get a crack at that top 50. I think the folks at nike will fire this water shoe lover and hire me.

Always a classic. Just wish they would make more simple c/w's like this w/ out all the hoopla of it being limited. Only time will tell.
