The Audi A3 1.6 TDI Ultra Would Drive From NYC to Florida on One Tank of Gas (If Sold Here)

The Audi A3 1.6 TDI Ultra Would Drive From NYC to Florida on One Tank of Gas (If Sold Here)

There's a reason the press release first states that the Audi A3 1.6 TDI ultra "consumes 3.2 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers." This release wasn't really aimed at the U.S. market, because the A3 1.6 TDI goes on sale in Germany (not America) for around $33,500 US in September. 3.2 liters/100km is equivalent to 73.5 mpg here in the United States, by the way, meaning that you could drive 932.06 miles on its 13.21-gallon tank. That's almost exactly the distance from New York City to Jacksonville, FL, if you took 95 S.

This car, available in three- or five-door, will be Audi's most efficient production vehicle, and is the first of an "ultra" line to come. Ultra "expresses the brand's all-encompassing commitment to systematic sustainability concerning production and products," according to Audi.

The 2,656.57lb car has a high speed of 124.27 mph and gets to 62 in 10.5 seconds from its diesel engine. Too bad we don't get this over here ...
