Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs)
We know, we know, we know, CVTs are a great alternative to improve gas mileage. That doesn't mean we have to like driving them. If you aren't aware, a CVT pretty much eliminates the use of gears, instead using a metal belt and two variable-diameter pulleys to control the input and output of energy. Although it helps with the MPGs, the cars suffer tremendously in the power department. They're extremely sluggish getting off the line and pretty much any other time you floor it to try to make a quick move on the road.
