Mississippi Is Officialy The Most Miserable State in Which to Own a Car

Carinsurance.com just released the results of its new study; the website compiled an "Automotive Misery Index" as a new way to tell you how much your state sucks. The index cross references average household income, gas prices, average commute, and the cost of insurance. Strangely, traffic congestion isn't a factor, misery is defined as spending a lot of money on a car. Anyway, here are the states with the worst misery ratings:

    1. Mississippi - 11.6% of income spent on cars.
    2. Oklahoma - 10.7%
    3. Louisiana - 10.5%
    4. West Virginia - 10.2%
    5. Montana - 9.7%
    6. Georgia - 9.7%
    7. Michigan - 9.2%
    8. Wyoming - 9.1%
    9. Kentucky - 9.1%
    10. Arkansas - 9.0%
