A star studded field came to Indiana in 1967, including Formula 1 heros Jimmy Clark, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, Jochen Rindt and Denny Hulme, as well as future NASCAR Hall of Famer Cale Yarborough. Parnelli Jones looked to be well on his way to his second Indianapolis 500 win when a $6.00 part failed in his transmission just 4 laps from the finish. A.J. Foyt inherited the lead and picked his way through a multicar crash on the final lap to win his third Borg-Warner trophy.
