9. 1968 Holden HK Monaro
Australia does have its own car industry and back in the '60s and '70s, we designed and built a few unique cars that could more than match the brawn of Detroit iron. With nostalgia being what it is, cars like the Monaro and Valiant Charger, not to mention the GT Falcon, are now worth huge wedge; probably well into six figures. I like the Aussie charger, it had a ripping straight six with a Hemi that made it the fastest car of its kind in the world at the time, but the fluid shape of the HK Monaro is my preferred option from this era. With a 327, this mid-size coupe belted around the famous Bathurst track, winning the race in 1968. With its asymmetrical stripes, warwick yellow paint and lycra-clad model, it was a classy statement in 1969 and still is today!
