Only 1 of 3 Hybrid Owners Buys a Second Hybrid

According to a recent study by Polk, most hybrid buyers do not buy another hybrid. Although loyalty to the drive-train may only be 35.2%, brand loyalty from hybrid buyers is much bigger. For instance, less than one in five Honda hybrid owners bought another hybrid, but a full 52% of them bought another Honda.

We think that true loyalty to the drive-train is probably higher than that figure, though; most hybrids are fairly new cars sold to budget- and green-minded people. These consumers are going to be wanting to hold on to their cars for as long as they can to reduce fuel spending, thereby making the investment pay off, and to reduce impact on the environment caused by the manufacture of new vehicles.
