Back in September, the mayor's office of NYC announced that Alta Bicycle Share would be rolling out the city's first ever bike share program. This summer will see the launch of that program, set to include 10,000 new public bicycles at 600 stations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn with each bike station no more than 1,000 feet away from the next. Over the next two months, the Department of Transportation (DOT) will be holding community planning workshops to help determine where to place the bike stations.
The next of these meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21st, from 6:00–8:00PM, to determine placement of stations in Stuyvesant Town, Tudor City, Turtle Bay, Peter Cooper Village, Murray Hill, Gramercy Park, Kips Bay, and Sutton Place. Suggest locations for bike share stations in your neighborhood at the DOT website.
