According to tailgating lore, the origins of the pre-game party date to the Civil War, when the families and friends of Union soldiers would gather around the marching paths with food, drink, and lots of team spirit. The tailgating fan vehicle was born a few years later, in 1869, when New Jersey rivals Rutgers and Princeton squared off after a legendary party near the field. Students and fans ate, drank, and got merry around their horse-drawn wagons, giving birth to a tradition. The tailgating wagons of today are a lot brighter, and have a lot more horsepower behind them, but the idea is the same. We present the Complex ranking of the best NFL-themed tailgate rides.
