For some reason when people speak of great sports cars, American models get left out in the cold. We don't know why. It's not like we haven't built great, award-winning, championship-netting machines. Does no one remember Ford's GT40? Or, if you can't think that far back, how about the Corvettes that dominate almost every Le Mans competition they participate in? There's also the 'Vette that was able to go faster than 250 mph decades before Bugatti attempted to do it. The list goes on. And now, with the 2011 model year sporting a bunch of American performance cars that can go toe-to-toe with their foreign competition, it looks like the tradition will continue. Allow us to jog your memory a bit: From limited-edition Corvettes to Warner Brothers-inspired Plymouths to Viper-powered pickups, we count down the 50 Greatest American Sports Cars of All Time.

Are you kidding? They added some BS driver's seat, still had less than 200 hp, and it makes the 50 greatest american sports cars of all time?

No DODGE CHALLENGER? Arguably one of the best looking and best performing muscle cars of all time. Are you kidding me? This list is garbage.

BOGUS! uh Chevelle SS LS6 454? Dodge Challenger, AMC Javelin, Plymouth Duster? Where in the hell was the original Pontiac GTO, the Hurst Olds? Did I miss that one? And the Delorean was an import car. Two thumbs down.

This is a horrid list. Horrid. No Challenger, 2nd gen Camaro, 3rd gen Nova....I mean, this list is laughable. Half of those cars are punchlines, not classic American sports cars.
