T.I. is a masterful MC and has dipped in worlds other than music, and now it looks like the wordsmith is testing his mic abilities on the stand-up comedy stage.
A video that surfaced on social media Thursday shows Tip working the mic at what is evidently a comedy club, where the rapper ran through a few different jokes. In the footage above, Tip jokes about the politics of cheating and how he believes it differs between men and women. T.I.’s wife Tiny also recorded bits of his set and posted them to her Instagram Stories.
This might be one of the first times T.I. has tried stand-up comedy, but it isn’t the first time he’s stepped outside of the world of hip-hop. Similar to other rap legends, T.I. has tried his hand at acting and has since been in several movies, including his own classic, ATL. Beyond that, Tip has appeared in titles like Takers, American Gangster, and had a reoccurring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first two Ant-Man films.
There’s no telling why T.I. decided to hop on the stand-up stage, but the crowd appeared to receive his set well, so this may be something we see him do more often.
Jokes aside, the Atlanta legend still believes no one can stand up to him when it comes to his abilities as a rapper. Earlier this week, Tip took to his IG Stories to share his opinion about his catalog.
“Motherfuckers can’t fuck with me in no way, shape, form, or fashion when it comes to doing no music, man,” he said in the clip, tossing out names like Jay-Z, Nas, and Kanye in the process. “I got a lot of other shit going on so I don’t do music like on no consistent basis. … I don’t depend on that shit to feed me, you hear me? But when you’re talking ’bout doing music, when you’re talking ’bout cutting records, n***a, you talking ’bout putting shit out, talking ’bout making shit that’s better than anything out there, man, ain’t nobody fucking with me. Nobody fucking with me, bruh.”
