If the recent hype surrounding the mere mention of CinemaCon-premiered footage didn’t make it clear enough, just know that the stakes are indeed quite high for The Matrix Resurrections.

Tuesday, the team behind the fourth installment in the Keanu Reeves-led franchise launched a new website—WhatIsTheMatrix.com—and offered fans a unique way of getting a look at some teaser-ified footage.

In short, fans are given the choice of selecting either a blue or red pill, with their choice spurring the rendering of one of thousands of unique teaser videos. The selection process is also dependent on the time of day, ensuring a highly interactive experience for sequel-hungry fans.

When this writer selected the red pill on the site, a clip was unlocked featuring a quick look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and a glimpse at a frenetic motorcycle chase sequence. All told, there are said to be 180,000 possible variations on the site.

Also unveiled on Tuesday was an official teaser poster, which fittingly focuses on the same pill prospects:

Reeves’ Neo reprisal is complemented in Resurrections by the return of Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity and Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. While previous Matrix entries saw the writing and directing handled by both Lana and Lilly Wachowski, Resurrections is directed solely by the former. The script for the franchise’s grand return was penned by Lana with novelist David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas) and Aleksandar Hemon (Sense8).

Currently, HBO Max has all three previously released Matrix movies available to stream ahead of the holidays-timed Resurrections drop in December.
